THE PARKS OF VAL DI CORNIA

Numerous natural and archaeo-mining parks

THE PARKS THAT ENHANCE VAL DI CORNIA

THE HISTORICAL AND NATURAL RICHES OF THE AREA

For those who love immersing themselves in nature, in the surroundings of the campground, it’s possible to visit numerous natural parks and archaeo-mining parks that have enhanced the historical and natural riches of the area.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF BARATTI AND POPULONIA

The green-clad promontory and the curved line of the gulf frame the remains of an Etruscan city. The monumental necropolis kissed by the sea, the Etruscan tombs carved into the rock of an ancient quarry that opens up into the woodland scenery, speak to us of the splendor of a civilization flourished on the processing of iron from the island of Elba.

FOREST PARK OF POGGIO NERI

An uncontaminated forest of chestnut trees, holm oaks, and oaks. A green kingdom, dominated by deer and wild boars, just a short distance from the ancient village of Sassetta, clinging to the slopes of a high hill overlooking the valley.

NATURAL PARK OF MONTIONI

Following the traces left by shepherds and hunters, loggers, and charcoal burners, you penetrate into a natural environment populated by abundant and diverse wildlife. In the heart of the park, the signs of humanity emerge from the remains of alum quarries and the mining village from the Napoleonic era, commissioned by Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi.

COASTAL PARK OF RIMIGLIANO

A strip of green, overlooking the sea where Mediterranean vegetation displays exceptional variety. From the sand to the dunes, where the scrubland is shaped by the sea winds, to the cool forest dominated by holm oak, cork oak, and pine.

STERPAIA PARK

A precious and rare wetland forest, typical of the ancient coastal landscape of Maremma, miraculously surviving deforestation. An enchanted environment where one can get lost among centuries-old oaks in the company of the small woodland fauna, until discovering, beyond the sandy dunes, the sea.

MAREMMA PARK (OR UCCELLINA)

Access from the north at Alberese and from the south at Talamone. Excursions only on foot or horseback. Three guided tour routes on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Self-guided tours available every day, lasting about 2 hours, starting from the entrance of Alberese. Other routes are free.

Reservations at the Visitor Center in Alberese Tel: 0564407098
